okay brace yourself. we havent talked a lot about these but im about to blow some new verse ideas’ heads off
i mean obviously in the verse we have with them right now i think hook is going to learn to really care for her. even if he never falls in love with her or what have you, he’s going to still care. I think they really compliment each other in the way that they both are sort of pariahs as Hook would say and i think they find solace (as much as they hate to admit it) in the other one’s company.
IMAGINE A MODERN AU WHERE THEY ARE LIKE BEST FRIENDS. Maybe on again off again. Killian left to pursue other things (maybe my rockstar verse??) but comes back like the prodigal son after hearing of Ruby’s grandma passing. That lady was there for him when no one else was, much like Ruby herself, and its with a heavy heart that killian attends the funeral, sucking his bottom lip back with that pleading look in his eyes as he suddenly comes face to face with his longtime friend again.
Late night conversations on the rooftops of their respective houses, talking. Reminiscing. Just being together. Sharing a bottle of whiskey between them for old times’ sake and laughing at stupid jokes that should have long since been dead but are still somehow funny.
Ruby and Killian in my detective verse where Ruby is maybe new to London and trying to make a name for herself as an investigator there or some other such business. And they treat each other to bad Thai takeout and cheap wine and just randomly show up at the other’s flat to just bloody vent because sometimes life just really bloody fucking sucks.
As a pirate, Killian surprises himself by going above and beyond to ensure Red remains aware of her self worth. The lass obviously has no qualms with self confidence on the surface but the pirate guesses, as it is with himself, that maybe she has bigger demons hiding underneath the layer of false bravado. He would do his absolute best to help those go away, probably healing bits of himself in the process.
One day Killian has a revelation - no longer is the she wolf in front of him merely a chance for the acquisition of treasure. She offered him friendship, a stubborn streak to match his own and the courage he thought long dead among any non pirate denizens. He realizes in that moment that no matter what becomes of their relationship - he would curved steel to the heart die in order to protect her. Shes seen enough suffering. He wants to make sure thats put to an end
